The registrations for Flanders Ethno 2011 are open. If you want to spend a quality musical week on the Belgian seaside in August between 1 and 8 and then play at Dranouter Festival among others - look no further! All you need to do is to register on the official website where you can also check for fees and conditions.

Hurry up though, there’s only 60 places and the demand is high!

Ethno Croatia 2011 - Call for Artists

Ethno Croatia starts in Grožnjan on July 12th and ends on July 22nd in Zagreb.
Learning, preparing and arranging the tunes is going to take place in Grožnjan from July 12-19. 
After the camp a short Ethno On The Road tour will be performing around Croatia:
20.7 International Folk Festival (Zagreb)
21.7 Miletic Square (Slavonski Brod)
22.7 Castle Golubovec (Gornja Stubica)

Apply if you are a musician between 18-30 years old, if you play an acoustic instrument or if you are a singer. You can apply both as an individual or as a band together with other band members. Participants should prepare 2 traditional tunes (songs or dances) from their local tradition or from their country which they are going to teach to other participants.

Mentors
Allan Skrobe (Sweden) - multitalented musician who plays mandolin, guitar and produces music.
Lidija Dokuzović (Croatia) - the voice of the band Afion and conductor of several choirs which perform traditional music.

Accommodation and Food
In 4 and 6 person bedrooms. Participants will have 3 meals per day in Grožnjan. Please inform us if you are vegetarian or if you have food allergy problems.

Fee
Participation fee is 200 EUR (includes food, accommodation and transport from Grožnjan to Zagreb).

Arrival and departure
Participants should arrive preferably one day before the beginning of Ethno, on July 11th in Grožnjan. The departure from Zagreb is on July 22nd.

Ethno Denmark 2011 - Call for Artists

Ethno Denmark 2011 is now open for applications!

Ethno Denmark 2011 will take place on the 21st to 28th of July on the small island “Fanø”.
ED2011 is an international folk music camp in Denmark with participants from all over the world!

We will have 7 great days with music, sun, music, swimming, music, dances, music, concerts, music, good coffee, music, laughter, music and did we mention: music, music, music!!!

We expect you to be a talented and curious musician ready to teach your music and  learn music from other countries. And you should be between 16-30 years old.

Participation fee
From Scandinavia : 200 €
From rest of Europe : 165 €
From non-European countries: 90 €
The fee covers food and lodging between 21-28  July

Nearest airport is “Billund”.

Ethno: The New Spirit of World Music

Ethno Book Launch

Join us for an evening of Ethno on the 7th of March 2011 to celebrate the launch of a nice little publication called “Ethno: The New Spirit of World Music”.

The publication looks at the Ethno experience across 8 different countries and what it meant for those who participated in 2010.

The event kicks off at 19:30 and we’ll be greeting you with some tasty local specialties and for your entertainment Wim Claeys will lead an Ethno Flanders showcase.

Feel free to bring your partner, friends, children, and neighbors!

First 50 people to come will get the book for free!

Ethno Estonia 2010

ETHNO ESTONIA 2010 takes place on July 16-25 in Kõpu village not far from Viljandi in South-Estonia and in Viljandi during the Viljandi Folk Music Festival.

ETHNO ESTONIA is a musical gathering and traditional music course for young musicians between 16 and 30, who love to play traditional music on any instruments and would like to learn/exchange tunes and make music with young musicians from Estonia and other foreign countries.

ETHNO ESTONIA takes place every summer one week before the Viljandi Folk Music Festival (http://www.folk.ee/festival). During the workshops, all music is taught by listening. There will be 70 participants, 10 mentors and a couple of guest musicians and teachers at ETHNO ESTONIA. The ethno week includes:

* Estonian traditional music workshops

* Foreign participants’ workshops

*  Dance workshops

*  Singing workshops

*  Participants’ concerts both during the ethno week in Kõpu and at the Viljandi Folk Music Festival

Viljandi Folk Music Festival
Kõpu is a village with 800 inhabitants and is not far from Viljandi. Lodging and workshops all take place at Kõpu school, which is a recently reconstructed manor house in classicistic style from 1847 surrounded by a big park. Not far from the manor house, there is a river for refreshing baths.

Participant fee: 100 €
The fee includes food, transport between Viljandi and Kõpu, ethno T-shirt, festival ticket and lodging both in Kõpu and in Viljandi during the festival. Food during the festival is not included.

Ethno Sweden 2010 will be held in from the 1st to the 10th of July in Rättvik

Since it’s beginning as a small folk music camp for young musicians alongside the Falun Folk Music Festival, many more new Ethnos have been born thanks to the pioneer work of the first Swedish leaders and organizers.

This year’s edition promises to be great!
